We Were Invaded Last Night, Warning You Could Be Next!

Seriously we were invaded last night. Not by aliens, no nothing that would be so much fun. We were invaded by another computer virus!

No we didn't log onto any suspicious looking sites or open one of those weird e-mails or pictures saying we were tagged in a photo. We were simply trying to spice up a blog!

The writing part was all finished and the highlighting done and we thought 'let's add a picture', but we didn't have an appropriate one. So we searched Google for free pictures. Yep, that's when it happened. We found what we thought was the perfect photo to add, clicked on it and zap, it nailed us. Just like that, no fuss, no muss.

We now every few seconds we get this flash on the screen that says we may have a virus and need to download protection.  The flash notice is accompanied by a squawking pig sound.  We think this is the viruses way of trying to get us to buy their protection program but no thank you. We will dash over to the store and buy another program to remove theirs.

Wordless Wednesday - Keep Away!

We having been watching the weather around us and some areas were badly 'pounded' with the white stuff recently. We had one crazy snowfall the week before Christmas where one area of the City of Brampton was covered in layers of a white blanket of snow and just a few neighbourhoods away, not a speck!

Celebrate New Year's Eve In The City Of Brampton

The City of Brampton will come alive downtown at 7:00 p.m. on December 31st, 2010 to ring in 2011! The main stage at the Garden Square will rock with free entertainment from the Sam Roberts Band and Faber Drive from 7:30p.m. til 12:00 a.m. while firework displays will sparkle the skies at 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.

There will be full action all night long with ice skating & sculptures, marshmallow roasting, stilt walkers, magicians & jugglers at Gage Park and a location to warm up & eat inside the City Hall at Cafe in the Atrium.

There will also be a VIP Party (tickets $50.00 per person plus tax) in the Rose Theatre Lobby. There you will be served a delicious hors d'oeuvres buffet, there will be a live DJ and front row access to the main stage performances.

Stay safe, ride the Brampton Transit free to and from this event. This is lining up to be a fantastic night, full of fun, laughter and entertainment. What a way to bring in a New Year!

Wondering What To Do With Your Christmas Tree In Brampton, Ontario, Canada?

Well the big Christmas day is over and you may wondering what to do with the Christmas tree other than throwing it out on garbage day.

Just about 45 minutes up Airport Road (Highway 9 area) is the little Town of Mono and they will gladly accept your tree at their annual Tree Chipping Winterfest! What a great way to keep that once beautiful Christmas tree, green! The Town of Mono are inviting you to bring your tree and they will chip it all up for you. They will bag up the chips for you to take home for your garden or you can leave them behind and the town will use them in their trails and walkways.

The Tree Chipping Winterfest will be held at the Mono Community Centre at 347290 Mono Centre Road, on January 16th from noon til 4:00 p.m., admission is free and there will even be outdoor & indoor activities such as skating, cross country skiing and crafts.  What a great way to save the environment and have fun at the same time.  For more information you may call the Town directly at 519-941-3599.

Pay It Forward - Clear Someone's Snow!

By now we have all seen that internet joke where the snow is piled so high you can't even tell which car on the road is what. A guy comes out clears every piece of the white stuff off a car thinking it was his only to find out when he pushes the starter that it wasn't. Ya, its pretty funny unless it happens to you!

Several years ago we were out all day until late. It was one of those days that began with a light snow that never let up. We dreaded coming home, knowing the mountain of snow our driveway would hold for us, forget how the bottom of the driveway would look courtesy of the street plows. Hungry and tired we knew we had a a good hour worth of labour in the cold ahead of us, only to find as we reach our street that our driveway was totally cleared out. What a wonderful feeling and how happy and thankful we were that we had the most thoughtful neighbour with a snow blower!     

With all the talk on the news and reading the comments here and on Facebook about how much snow certain areas got it reminded us of another great way to Pay It Forward.

If you can, clear out a neighbours driveway or at least help. Especially if they are elderly folk. All to often we hear of people who suffer from heart attacks because they push themselves too far, just to get the job done.

If you are fortunate enough not to live in an area with snow, maybe there is something else you can help a neighbour with, like taking out their trash or bringing the cans back in!

Paying It Forward In The Rain - Merry Christmas Everyone!

We have received many friendly greetings here in the Rain from our friends and we wanted to return the greetings and also Pay It Forward to the new friends we are about to meet on Active Rain in 2011.

Our greeting had to be as special as our friends are here and it had to be fun. So in our search for a special Christmas video greeting card, we found this winter wonderland.

We toured the site and each photo was shot with you in mind Active Rain Friends. The slide show was put together with our heartfelt thanks for each comment you have left, for each e-mail you have sent, for the phone calls we received and more importantly for each blog you have posted for us to enjoy.   

Santa Is On The Move And You Can Watch Him!

Hey fellow Active Rainers, gather your little ones together and follow Santa's big ride, courtesy of Norad!  At this posting, Santa had just arrived in Japan. Looking at the map of his route there is a little video camera in Australia, maybe we'll get a look at the fellow and Rudoph and the boys as they make their way across the continent!

If you follow the Norad tips and tricks, we may even get a glimpse of Youtube videos and other photos as he lands in each location. With the help of Google Earth this might just be the most interesting flight to follow and you will see when he arrives at your house!

31 Days of December Challenge - Saying Thank You

As we approach the 'big' day, we are beginning to wind down business wise, even though there is still more to do. Today was a day to say thank you.

Thank you to those who help us over the year, going that extra mile for you.  There are many who help us, week after week after week. We say our thanks all year long and show our appreciation, but at time like this, you can't overlook those who work along side you.

So off we went in search of the perfect gift, one that is personal for those we needed to thank, wrapped them up and delivered them.
