How To Start An Electric Start Snowblower

How To Start An Electric Start Snowblower

Snowblower Snowblower

We just had a $300 lesson on how to start and maintain our "snowblower" and thought we would share it with you and save you the expense.  Yea we know, just push the button... what button you say?  This one right here...

Snowblower

Before you push the button, here are a few tips to get it started without spouting out any nasty words or kicking the machines tires.

  • pull the manual start a couple of times to wake it up
  • set dial to choke
  • set engine speed to high
  • push the primer twice
  • when the machine starts, set the engine speed at half and let it warm up for 5 minutes

Okay, here's the easy part... push and hold the electric start button (DO NOT PUSH - RELEASE - PUSH - RELEASE), if the machine does not start, release the start button and let it come to a complete stop before you push it again, failing this you will break some teeth off the starters gear, lose one or two teeth and it may work, more and you are looking for a new starter.

If you want to get 10 - 20 years out of your snowblower, it is important to keep it maintained.  At the end of the season, remove any left over gas, change the oil and apply grease where required.  Don't forget to check the spark plug, clean and or replace with the correct plug for your machine.  Your machine is ready for next winter, just add gas preferably premium gas, check your oil, make sure it didn't leak out, then follow the steps above.  With a little luck it will fire up right away.

Okay Mr. Winter, we are ready for you!
