What Would You Do In This Position?

Just finished reading this excellent book written by Jodi Picoult called 'House Rules'.  It's Jodi's 17th book, and she does another fabulous job keeping you the reader on the edge of your seat.

'House Rules' includes almost every type of story line there is except Sci-Fi. It's a story about a family where one of the members has Asperger's syndrome a form of autism and as the book cover describes the story "a family torn apart by an accusation of murder".  It is 532 pages, a big book, but don't let the size scare you away from tackling it. 'House Rules' is an easy read; a page turner; you'll sail right through it.

Kickoff For The World Cup 2010 In Just Over A Week Away

In just 11 days from today World Cup 2010 begins.  This event marks the first time ever that Africa was awarded to be the Host.

Over 160 national teams take part in the regional qualifications to qualify as one of the 32 teams that will take part in the finals, in South Africa in June 2010.

If you had time to check out our post the other day about "Do You Know Who's Watching You?"  you would have seen this set of sad eyes...

Imagine someone thought my eyes were all red from tipping back too many.  That is not the case, in fact some nights I'm up pretty late watching out for someone just like you.

Have you figured out who I am yet?

Okay, scroll down a bit and I will reveal myself...

Now my secrets out.  Guess you noticed, I'm not even a real dog, but a pretty good replica.  I have to tell you, once my owner put a leash around my neck and tied the other end to a fire hydrant and everybody thought I was a real dog.  It's not that bad, my owner gets an almost real looking dog without the slobber.

Need A Movie For The Weekend?

How about an action packed, suspense thrilller starring Mel Gibson?  His latest movie 'Edge of Darkness' will keep you guessing right from moment it starts. Twice during the movie we literally flew off the couch, good thing the first time the glasses were on the side table and the second time they were empty.  You have to love the expressions in this movie and the story line.

So when its time to come indoors after a day in the sun and you feel like curling up with a good movie, pick up 'Edge of Darkness', then let us know what you think.

That's right folks it is once again time for a roll in the park and lip smacking ribs in Brampton, Ontario, Canada!

The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at Brampton, Ontario, Canada's Gage Park and goes until midnight. It all continues again Saturday May 29th at noon until 2 a.m.  Gage Park is our beautiful landmark City park at the corner of Highway 10 (Main St.) and Wellington right across from Brampton's City Hall. This event is so successful it had to grow to a two day event, with Friday evening primary adult entertainment and the focus on the kids on Saturday. Both days are sure to be fun filled, with money being raised for the Rotary's children charities and Tour For Kids, an organization that works with kids who have cancer. 

Saturday May 29th, will be a happening event complete with wall climbing, jugglers and buskers, bouncy castles, face painters and teams of inline skaters that will compete for the Rib ‘n’ Roll Corporate Challenge Cup with an hour of skating around the Gage Park track.

Ribs will be sizzling and juicy, both days as Jake’s Boathouse, Louisiana Seafood Oyster Bar and Grill, Crabby Joes, Executive Chef and Mixed Grill Team vies for the title of Best Ribs in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

What can be better than live entertainment, good food, money for a great cause and free admission? Hope to see you there!

It started out in 2005 when  Rachel Smith held the first yard sale for Breast Cancer. Now the Yard Sale for the Cure has raised $650,000 to date.

We are breaking records here in Ontario, Canada! Weather records that is! And we are feeling hot, hot, hot! Today's temperatures are hotter than in Hawaii!!  Hotter than a pepper sprout as Johnny Cash and June Carter would have described it.

Seems like summer has come early to our area. Several records were broken yesterday, and today is sizzling even hotter.  This is not our normal heat wave, first its too early and it started in the Southwest and then through the midwest of the United States. Many all time records have been broken for the hottest May.  Along with the sizzle came the humidity which is soaking everybody today and the threat of hail and thunderstorms are in our future forecast.

Today, though we have to be thankful for the cooling air conditioning and the leftover snowball in the freezer from winter. Yep, we are hotter than a pepper sprout and feeling, hot, hot, hot!  What is your favourite way to 'cool down'?

Countdown To The 2010 World Cup South Africa

You are about to be invaded in 17 days from today, on June 11, 2010.  During the following month everywhere you look, every sports restaurant you go into will be watching soccer, World Cup Soccer that is.

They are saying that the 2010 World Cup Soccer event could be the planets largest sporting event of all times with an expected audience of over 1 Billion people.

Teams from 32 nations will participate at the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA event.

If you are a fan or would like to learn more about the game and the teams, there are a couple of real good sites to help you out.  Check out FIFA and WORLD CUP SOCCER.

This event comes around every four years and this year South Africa is the host.  They have put together a little video to start the ball rolling.  Have a look, then pop over to one of the above sites and pick your team.

Watch Out For The Pesticide Police...

A couple of years ago pesticides were banned in most cities in Ontario.  It is now illegal to use any pesticides on your lawns to kill or prevent those nasty weeds from growing.

The old dandelion is now thriving, from a distance they don't look so bad, but up close, not so good.  You can buy any number of new products to help pluck these dandies, but don't you even think about spraying them.  The spray police are out there watching and they come in all shapes, sizes and disguises.

Look close at the bottom of this picture, they even have the bee patrol watching.

Oh, by the way, they even have these bees going to school... have a watch.
