Here it is Friday's Foto day again. Where are the weeks going. Don't have any fantastic photos today but wanted to show you a new experience we are having.
Some Real Estate trainers say that one of the best ways to build your business is to farm. So we thought we would try our hand at farming.
Guess it's not the kind of farming that's going to get us any sales...
Seen the Ad on TV? Thought we would give it a try...
Topsy Turvey... what a unique way to grow your vegtables. No weeding. Being the cheap guys, we thought we would make our own Turvey's (see in background). We had some old buckets, drilled a few water holes in the bottom filled them up and off to the races.
They say besides tomatoes you can grow peppers and cucumbers... we are trying all three.
Not bad for a couple of novice farmers. We usually have a hard time keeping anything growing.
Okay, we had to make this one a little bigger so you don't strain your eyes, but if you look real close you will see our first little tomato... after over 30 years we have given birth... again.
If you want to see another AR's, who started growing her garden before us, our growing season is much later than where Donna Harris is in Austing TX. Click here, you can really see her tomatoes. http://activerain.com/blogsview/1088874/topsy-turvey-update-it-s-been-3-weeks
Here's Donna' latest link, the tomatoes are now red... http://activerain.com/blogs/donnahomes?page=4

Those look AWESOME! I have 2 upside down tomato plants too. They are GREAT and bugless and make wonderful salad fixin's and salsa!!!!
What a GREAT idea to do your own with buckets! That's one thing that bugs (heh) me a little about the Topsies is the hole in the top is small . . . I like to get out in my yard with the hose and spray everything and you have to 'aim' with those . . . ;)
Hey Candice! Love that dog!! Ha, Ha, we call our home made buckets "tomato tubs"! You can't see in the pictures but the holes we made are about the size of quarters, so ya, makes watering easier, and we made about six of them. Glad to hear they are going to taste good. You got yours early!
I currently have 9 tomatoes on the plant!! It's been very hot, supposed to be 107 today, so I'm giving them lots of water, but I guess they like that because it took off!
Those buckets look interesting... I might need to do that with the basil and bell peppers I'm growing.
Wow 9 tomatoes Donna! Amazing! and so is 107!!!! You better water yourself, forget the plants! Have a great weekend!
I like the recylce topsy turvy idea, I guess it can be done with almost anything... Thanks
I've never heard of this - What a terrific idea! You have my mouth watering for homegrown tomatoes now! LOL
Debi
Caron, always gotta think Green! They seem to be working well too! Thanks for visiting
Debi, Well that little tomato will only wet your appetite! Thanks for stopping by
Those do look awsome, I like the home made topsy turvy planters the best!
KA-h-h-h the topsy turvy trick. I am growing some tomatoes via this method too. I am really surprised by the results. I will expand on this concept next year...

Hey Tony & Darcy from one "C" team to another! ;) The topsy sure made it easy, now to taste its fruit!
Come on Michael, let's see some pictures! LOL! Have you eaten any yet???
MY wife and I have seen these on TV and think they are fantastic. My mission this week will be to track some down so we can do our "farm thing". Thanks for the reminder.
Good Luck Tom and let us know how you make out! Thanks for visiting.
It looks like you're having fun with your new plants. My wife is a produce manager so we get all the freshest veggies and fruits without having to grow them.
John.....you keep making us drool and drool. Is it really better there?? BTW - Al wants to know how much is the red cabbage there! Hope it wasn't your wife he was yelling at!
Well - aren't you clever!!! I was looking for the photo of Farmer Al in his straw hat and suspenders. After John't comment all I could think about was him on his bike with his camera and his basket full of fruit and veggies taking the rocket lift off shots. Too funny.
OK, I'm sending you post to my wife. She loves tomatoes and I was too cheap to order anything "Seen on TV" But, you just saved me $20 - THANKS!

I was taught in school that roots grow down and the trunk and limbs grow up, so if you've got a plant doing something different, I would have to say that the plant is probably possessed, and I certainly woudn't eat anything from it lest I become possessed. LOL
I'm not quite sure that's the type of farming the real estate trainers were talking about, but, hey, if it works, go for it! LOL
