Al and Peggy's Corner: Wordless Wednesay Almost

Wordless Wednesay Almost

Happy Good Wordless Wednesday Morning,

Not sure about you, but is time flying by?  Today being the 21st means that we have seen a month of Fall pass by.  While we are on the subject of time, you have a little over 60 days until Santa comes.

Okay, back to Wordless Wednesday, we will try to keep it as wordless as we can.

Think of a couple of birds that you like, you know an Eagle, a Blue Jay, a Mockingbird.  Now think of a few that don't make your list.

We took a shot of this little guy the other day and thought, most people think this bird is just a pest, what bird did you just think of?

Don't peek until you made your guesses...

Did you guess yet?

How about the common Seagull... did it make your pest list?  Think about it for a second, the Seagull is always at work cleaning up.  Drop a french fry and they are there, drop a piece of your hot dog, actually drop just about anything and they are there to get it.  They are doing their own GREEN thing to make our world a cleaner place to live.

So the next time you see one of these guys, give it a salute...

Al and Peggy, I thought of a pigeon. The Seagull does in fact do a good job of cleaning up. If we could just get them to clean up what they leave behind after they eat all that food. lol

Our pests are not only the above but the Piping Plovers who nest on the beaches causing closures.

Posted by Heath Coker, Real Estate Broker, Cape Cod (http://www.CapeGroup.com & http://www.REindex.com) 9 months ago

Hi Michael, the pigeon is a great guess and do contribute to the same thing the Gull does that you mentioned.  At least it's white.

Hi Heath, you got us.  Never heard of a Piping Plover, but they must be some monster bird to be able to close a beach.

I didn't think of that one but you make an interesting point about how "green" they are. Michael that's funny!

Al and Peggy - I would have said Canada Goose with their droppings on beaches lawns and every where

Hi Al & Peggy, I love watching them, they are such clowns. And as far as I am concerned, they will play to a camera, and a french fry!

Jenny, The seagull is Utah's state bird and if no one else will clean up the mess, these birds jump right in like they're getting paid!

Posted by Wanda Kubat-Nerdin (Prado Real Estate, St. George, UT 435.632.9374) 9 months ago

Well who'd a thunk it??? You made me curious and I had to look up how the heck that ever happened.

"The California gull, even without official status, was long considered the state bird of Utah due to its storied role as a protector of crops. It gained this reputation during the summer of 1848 when swarms of crickets attacked pioneer food supplies. It was reported that flocks of the birds arrived, settled in the "...half-ruined fields" and "gorged themselves" on the attacking crickets. It's often stated that the California gull was made the state bird in return for saving the settler's lives."

So there you go Al and Peg.  A little history lesson.  Sorry to "hijack" your post.  I tell you, it's just going to the birds.

Wanda maybe we can send some dirty Canada Geese you way???

Pidgeons, seagulls, cormorants, and I hate to say it ....

Canada Geese

There I said it...

We have enough of them already!!!

Al & Peggy--what an interesting twist!  Thanks for the new perspective on sea gulls.  I will remember that next time I see one.  Around here no one likes the Canada Geese as Chris said before me.

Hi Everyone, when you really think of it, those Seagulls not only clean up behind us humans but they do entertain us.

Peggy, You're right, they're always there to catch the "left overs."  I love gulls, ducks and all birds for some reason!  I enjoyed the picture.

Uh Oh guys, you've got an unwanted spam visitor above.  Guess you will have to close all comments of to the public.  I ended up doing it awhile back.

Posted by Jenny Kotulak Oakville Real Estate (Broker RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp. Oakville, Ontario) 9 months ago

Al and Peggy I did not thing of a seagull, come to think of it, non really came to my mind.

Buy the way isn't it amazing how some of the clowns that go around spamming other peoples blogs actually think that others are going to follow their links.

Jenny - I don't think the spam visitor is unwelcome.  He is trying to sell boots to wear in the parks where the Canada Geese hang out.

Al and Peggy - You don't need to wait over 60 days for Santa Claus to come to town.  Toronto's Santa Claus Parade is on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 12:30 p.m.  He'll be at the end of the parade, as he has been for the previous 104 years. :)

Ho, ho, ho!!!!

Hi Ironic that you should post seagulls, french fries and hotdogs together. Brings to the forefront of the lobe, Jimmies of Savin Rick in West Haven, Ct before the board of health made them clean up the hot dog stand. Right on the beach, just like at Coney Island, teenagers all over the parking lot with their food, and sea gulls diving bombing the cars looking for french fries, and hot dogs. and now you want them saluted?

Al & Peggy, for my least liked bird I immediately thought of the starling.

I saw the spam character over on in the comedy group.

Chris, haven't you broken some sacred ground with that goose comment?

Chris is new here and he hasn't seen my specially trained Geese has he Marc?

Posted by Jenny Kotulak Oakville Real Estate (Broker RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp. Oakville, Ontario) 9 months ago

Jenny - You need to take Chris on a guided tour of your trained animal photo gallery.

Posted by Marc Swartz, CA, CPA, Real Estate Broker Toronto, Durham & York Regions, Ontario (Sutton Group-Heritage Realty Inc., Brokerage (905) 471-2000) 9 months ago

Guess we need to train these Geese to stay on the golf courses.  Where we see them, they are always in the water, so they don't bother us.

Starling was a good choice of a pest bird, and theirs isn't white.

Thanks spammer, you are worth 10 points... you have been reported.

Hi Al and Peggy - I thought I recently read that you don't get 10 points anymore for reporting spam.  Can you look at your points log and see if you got the 10 points.

Posted by Marc Swartz, CA, CPA, Real Estate Broker Toronto, Durham & York Regions, Ontario (Sutton Group-Heritage Realty Inc., Brokerage (905) 471-2000) 9 months ago

Hi Marc, not only did we get spamed above, but we also got one on a post about a month ago, each to catch with the email notice.  We reported them both and got the 10 points for each one.

I'm not a big fan of seagulls, but my marketing guru loves them because he can walk up about two feet from them and take their pictures.

I'm a seagull!
