Al and Peggy's Corner: This Is Absolutely Ridiculous... Is It Real, Is It Possible, If So Buy Some Stock

This Is Absolutely Ridiculous... Is It Real, Is It Possible, If So Buy Some Stock

Hello Active Rain

Just over a week ago we posted a blog on "Getting Hosed Again", if you didn't get a chance to look it over take a second and read it and the comments others offered.

A couple of days later  we offered a solutions that many of you thought for one reason or another wouldn't work.  Mainly the weather.  Check it out "Found The Solutions".

What did you think of the solutions?  Like some others, did you think it wouldn't work for you?

Well, sometimes we just need a little motivation to get our creative juices flowing.  FEAR is a good motivator (false evidence appearing real).

Is this false evidence or can it or will it really happen...

Hi Al and Peggy, Well I certainly hope this gas price does not happen in my lifetime:)   It is high enough, as it is, at approximatly $2.55 a gallon here.   thanks for sharing

Posted by Ginger Moore (Wilkinson & Associates Realty) over 2 years ago

WOW, I haven't seen an Esso sign since I was a kid, i thought that company died decades ago!

Prices did do a big bounce a few weeks ago, just in time for heating season.

YIKES .... I just read that gas prices are on the rise again ... I really hope that isn't how high they are going! Maybe it is time to get air in the bicycle tires!!!

Al and Peggy, I'm sure that if they could get away with it, it would happen. Luckily they can't ... mainly because none of us would buy it. I'd ride my horse instead ... LOL.

Hey Ginger we are floating at around 99.9 for our litre which is smaller than your gallon.  This sign made us stop in our tracks and laugh and then it wasn't quite so funny when we thought maybe by 2020 we will be paying this!? or flying!

Don't think Esso will ever die with these prices Robert!  Ya, Esso is very much alive and doing very well up here in Canada.....  Guess if we ever really do see prices like that we will see more scooters that are already starting to make an appearance.

Really Laura! The economy is getting better so they raise the prices??? Excellent!

Got a spare horse Suesan? It may go that way!

Carpooling would become quite popular !

Posted by Marilyn Harrell (ReMax Riverhaven) over 2 years ago

Well Marilyn there is an idea.  Funny isn't it? As the gas prices were rising, clients want to meet you at the properties instead of meeting at the office and "carpooling" it!

Yikes! I know that gas prices are on the rise, but that is just ridiculous. Must be a mistake. ;)

Being in New Jersey, we are lucky to get to take advantage of lower gas prices than most other places because of all the refineries here. I learn to appreciate it more when I travel to other places and see what they're paying.

Hi Al & Peggy!

I am from Norway and we just to pay equivelant of $6 per gallon 12 years ago!

We are totally spoiled over here!

Al and Peggy - LOL - the bottom of the sign reads on the run ... You would think it would read run out of town if those prices were anything but an error.

Hi Megan, we did a double take when we saw it....today however it is changed! :)

You are so welcome Sharon!  Don't forget to grease the spokes etc ;)

OUCH! That must have hurt Terry......ok, we will appreciate our buck a litre.

Good one Kathy, run out of town exactly!  It was a great photo op we just couldn't let slip ;)

Al and Peggy, well in order for that to work you are going to have to come up with a heater for that bike ..... LOL

Hey A & P ... - again you cost me few more wrinkles on my face...LOL...what a funny picture! I admit a bit scary...knowing with what kind of speed our gov spends our money...

Have you invested in the super bicycle yet? If yes I assumed that Al will be the one pedaling...LOL...however,  Peggy will have to be in the front...you definitely have to invest in the periscope to see where you are going...hahah...

With smiles,

I got a kick out of Robert's comment (#2). In the little town where I grew up (Kingsville, Texas), we had Humble and Esso stations everywhere. Most of their oil fields surrounded our little town at the time. When they merged, they became Exxon. They doubled the X because the Nebraska Governor at the time (1971-1979) was James Exon. He and Humble/Esso could not come to an agreement on the use of Exon as the oil name in Nebraska, and Humble/Esso didn't want to be Exon in 49 states and something else in Nebraska, so they went with Exxon. Governor Exon also served as a Senator from Nebraska from 1979-1997.

The United States is the only country where the name Exxon is used. Elsewhere throughout the world it's still Esso or ExxonMobil.

I used to be a big Humble ("Put a tiger in your tank!") and Exxon fan and stockholder until the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska in 1989. I sold all my stock then, and when they merged with Mobil and did away with Mobil's gay-friendly non-discrimination and domestic partner policies, I sold my Mobil stock.

Exxon refused to take responsibility for the Exxon Valdez oil spill, but the courts finally found them responsible earlier this year, twenty years later. Unfortunately, about 95% of the people affected by the oil spill are dead or long ago out of business due to the spill and how it affected the fishing industry in Alaska.

Al & Peggy:  I couldn't edit the comment to fix or remove the link so I just deleted it.   Here's the original comment with the link issue removed.  I guess too much time had passed and my edit option for the comment went away.

Funny picture and a BIG tease.  You tell me about your other posts but just enough to make me curious enough.  Now I have to go read both of THOSE posts too!

Big teasers.

Mystery solved, thank you Russel.  We just thought Esso was Canadian and Exxon was American....we do not have Exxon here well let's say here in the Toronto area of Ontario Canada....interesting facts.

Hi Erby, all is well in River City now! :)  We hope, until we blog again that is!
