A Little Walk At the Port of Orillia, in Orillia Ontario on a frosty December day.
Officially it is still FALL. We took a walk on Saturday along the boardwalk at thePort of Orillia and everywhere we looked, everything was hunkering down, awaiting old man WINTER. There were only two boats still tied up at the docks. The kids train station and French's hamburger stand were locked up for the season.
A few Canada Geese were still hanging around, and of course a dock full of Seagulls. If we were Seagulls we would definitely be in flight towards our new permanent home in Florida.
Samuel de Champlain overlooksLake Couchiching, frozen in time. It was just 394 years ago he was frollicking around right here with the local Indians.
Even Orillia's Island Princess has sailed her last tour for 2009 and awaits 2010 in the chilly waters.
It's a little errie, only a couple of people out walking their dogs where hundreds are usually enjoying the lovely waterfront.
Oh well, the way time is travelling, it will be SPRING again be for we know it.

HA! OK, I see it, guess it wasn't the base of the bronze statue of Al after all. Anyway, what a beautiful place Port of Orillia is! On my bucket list!
Great post, as always. And although I am disappointed that I didn't get it right, this post was certainly worth it!
Al and Peggy - That's a nice collage. Did you use Picassa?
Bbbbrrrrrrrrrrr. It's cold out tonight.
Al & Peggy - I love all the photos and I absolutely love your Santa hats!
Those are some really nice pictures. Definitely feeling more and more like winter.
Andrea actually Al was made of brass after our stroll. It was pretty chilly Saturday. Then Sunday we got snow up there.
No Marc actually it was Picnik! Try it out its pretty good!
Thanks Michelle hats were courtesy of Picnik too!
Hi Irene thanks, it seemed like everything down at the old port was boarded up and hunkered down. Guess they knew what was coming on Sunday! Snow!
Ha, Al & Peggy, I am finally right one time... though I will never know if I would have guessed it without reading the previous comments... next time I will not read them =)
Al and Peggy - Orillia certainly has changed over the years Kathy and I used to park our school bus camper there for the summer in our early years.
Al and Peggy,
Whether it is a stroll or a little walk, it is a healthy thing to do. Thanks for sharing the beautiful views on a frosty day.
Why is it always "Old Man Winter?" Did he never get married? Where's his better half? Surely she had something to do with this.
Happy Holidays!
That is absolutely beautiful - good job!!! Just think how different the port looks now after Orillia got it's first snow of the season and could look really different if it gets the 15 -25 cm of snow they are calling for.
Well its always good to read the comments Chris, but maybe after you have guessed! ;)
Really Barrie? Park it at the Port of Orillia? There were a few this summer.
Oh Gerry, it was healthy alright, so chilly it cleaned out the lungs with fresh air and the nostrils!
Oh come on Jim, everyone knows Old Man Winters lovely wife Mother Nature is responsible for only the beautiful things, like spring, summer, the flowers.......LOL!
Oh hush. NO MORE SNOW! The 3 - 4 inches up there is and was enough Laura!
Did you really say it will be spring again before we know it???? Took Lola for a cemetery walk today. Longjohns (yes, I figured it was time to lose my pride and warm my butt) and two pairs of socks in my boots. Only time I got cold was when I took off my mitts to take photos. Nice photos from the pier. I think that's the day you were sitting on the bench there?
Yes, Jenny Ko-tu-lak we did! (yes we pronounced it right! LOL) You are one dedicated walker! Cheers for Lola too.....Yes again Jenny! we were holding a seat on that bench for you! You are much more dedicated than we are, that was probably the last outdoor walk we will be on until Spring except for maybe a walk along the Florida coast!!
