The hours of 2009 are ticking away. What else can happen before we usher in 2010?
There is going to be a full moon on New Year's Eve. Here is what it looks like tonight.
This full moon is not just any old full moon, this full moon is a Blue Moon. What is a blue moon, is it really blue?
If you were to check "Wikipedia" it would tell you this:
"A blue moon is a full moon that is not timed to the regular monthly pattern. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year. The extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years (on average about every 2.7154 years[1]), there is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon." Different definitions place the "extra" moon at different times."
Look up and check out that blue moon on your way to your New Year's celebrations. Have fun, drive safe and best of all have a great 2010.

Al and Peggy - So a blue moon occurs every 2.7154 years. That is a very useful tidbit of information. Are you staying down south until the next blue moon???
i didnt know that, most of people wont be able to see that coz eye sight of most people is quite blurry at that time of year LOL.
hAPPY nEW yEAR
A&P, Cool!!! Tonight I can moon the moon or is that shoot the moon. Either way I most likely will be howling at the moon...

Al and Peggy, Don't forget to come to Naples! I will buy you a cocktail on the Pelican Bay Beach! Give me a call. Happy New Year!
Oh how you two must be suffering. I'll bet you just can't wait to get home to Canada and tell everybody just how bad a time you had, especially the cients, they just love to hear about their agent's warm weather vacations. And look even a free drink if you get to Naples. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful shot. Ah the beach....so close yet so far.......!
Hi Al and Peggy, I just got your comment. Sorry I missed you on New Years Day! How long are you in Marco? Give me a call tomorrow! Happy New Year! Belated! :-)
The blue moon here definitely wasn't blue, but it was beautiful, and since we live in East County, we can actually see the stars and the moon at night because there is no marine layer out here.
