Moose Monday - Is This All There Is To Eat
Hello Active Rain Moose Lovers,
Another Moose Monday is upon us. We didn't want to let Gerry from Red Lodge Montana down, so we took a trip to the Toronto Zoo yesterday in search of Bullwinkle a Moose. Now you have to know that the Moose headquarters is the farthest from the entrance of the zoo. At the bottom of a huge hill that was tough even going down, yes we were puffing going back of the hill.
So anyway, here we are trying to get a couple of shots of the Moose , the Blackberry dingalings and would you believe it, it's Gerry making a comment on one of our blogs. Is that some kind of psycho communication or what. We had always heard if someone pops into your mind... call them or do a blog to their group Moose Mondays.
We got a picture of this youngster and thought it was a good one to share with you...

A little Moose trivia... the name "Moose" means "eater of twigs" in the Algonkian language and "Elk" is the european name for a Moose.

Al & Peggy - What a journey to get this shot, hopefully you were able to enjoy the rest of the zoo as well.
Hi Al and Peggy...Moose in Toronto..that's like a fridge in Alaska:O))
Al and Peggy, I don't remember the last time I saw a moose....I loved the photo and it does look like it has slim pickings.
Al & Peggy, thaks for your efforts to get that shot! Looks like someone needs to feed the moose!
Is that a little baby moose or a female moose? Whatever, it's cute.

Actually it was a great day for a 'walk in the park' Michelle. The sun was shining, temp was good. It was amazing how many people were there for this time of year, can only imagine how busy it will be in a few weeks when Spring hits! Yes, we did get around to two 'lands' Africa & Canada, we still have more to tackle.
Ha, ha Fred, moose only in the zoo! But at least we got to see what we thought to be a baby. He was so frisky playing around til Mama mooed him over!
Luckily the zoo keepers were coming around with buckets of 'treats' Carole, cause we didn't see much else!
Hey Tony and Darcy, we thought the same thing and then decided maybe it was so he didn't look to appealing to the Grizzly Bears that were kept up the hill!
Jim the way it was playing around and jumping we figured it was a baby, but didn't notice any signs to tell us the facts LOL!
Nice photo, this little guy looks harmless enough however I have heard of stories of Moose being very aggressive and the need for caution around them.
Oh he is sooo cute. I'm sure you have lots of other great photos to show us. What a great day to visit the zoo. I had to laugh because at first I had no idea what you were talking about when you mentioned blackberry dingalings. I thought it was some kind of moose snack.
Hey Al & Peg, looks like a nice 500 lb (226 kg for you) baby. It should grow up to be a strapping 910 kg (2,000 lb) grown-up with a full rack. By rack I mean antlers, never mind that other definition. Thanks for sharing
Thanx for the reminder... I love going to the zoo in springtime... so many babies, and because it is still cool, the animals are more likely to be active.
Al and Peggy, love that baby moose! What a journey but it was well worth it. And, thanks for the moose and elk definitions, I've always wondered about that.
I continue to be amazed at the moose pictures coming in from around the country, and Canada! I think I can honestly say I have never seen a moose in the wild. . .I need to fix that one day!
Recently heard that Gerry, that is why we stayed safely on the other side of the fence LOL!
Moose food?? Oh gosh Jenny you made us laugh, blackberry dingalings and moose! ;)
Not even gonna go there with you Ed, you are on your own LOL!
This little guy was playing up to the crowd Chris, til Mama, reigned him in!
It was a great day to spend time outdoors Toni, and the walk felt good.
Quite an amazing animal when you watch them Myrl. This little guy was so cute.
Al and Peggy, OK I got to put on my glasses. All that talk about moose, when I looked at the word "pops" my mind registered "poops" " :) :) :)
What a great picture! I haven't seen a baby before other than Monique's picture a few weeks ago.
Al and Peggy,
Thank you for the effort to go all the way to the other end of the zoo (from the entrance) to get this beautiful shot of the baby moose. It has been a great number of years since I have been to the Toronto zoo but I felt like I was there with the two of you when I sent you a comment and you saw it on your Blackberry when you were at the zoo. :)
Great minds moose think alike!
I am featuring this one for your valiant effort to get this moose photo, the moose trivia and because I hope more people will enter your fun contest. :)
In Alaska my wife and I saw a baby Moose with a very protective Cow Moose. Stayed clear of them. Did not want momma to charge us.
LOL! George, oh please just the thought of someone pooping in our brains.........please wear the goggles!! ;)
Ya gotta admit Debra they are cute little guys and he listened to his Mama when she called too.
Aww thanks Gerry! When we saw your message we were laughing out loud and we are sure the people around us thought we were strange. It was such a coinsidence that there we were saying we hope Gerry likes this shot and bling bling, there is Gerry on the phone!! Too funny.
Oh Robert, this baby moose was dancing and prancing and playing up to the crowd til Mama there mooed? at him then he went running back to her. Never thought about her charging. No don't mess with Mama
We don't have meese here, even at the Zoo. :( However, I understand that our reindeer are due to return from the North Pole sometime later this month.
I think you are also going to be getting some polar bears too aren't you Russel?
Al & Peggy, am I the only one who is clueless to what a blackberry dingaling is (with the exception of Jenny?) I think Gerry cleared it up for me but still not sure.
