The End... have you figure out what it is?

Look Up, Way Up

Name That Photo

And It All Started At The Toronto Zoo

Things you always wanted to know about the Giraffe:

The Giraffe is from Africa
and is the tallest living land animal and could reach 20 feet and weigh in at as much as 3,960 pounds.

It's population has been reducing since the 1800's by humans hunting them for their meat, tough hides and tail hairs.

Their tongues can exceed 18 inches.

They exceptionally good eyesight, can run up to 35 mph and spend 16-20 hours a day feeding and sleeping for only 5-30 minutes a day.

Thanks for your guesses, Pam McInnes of Peak Realty Ltd. from Waterloo, Ontario nailed it.  We heard she flipped a coin... heads or tails and tails won it.  Way to go Pam.

I would never have figured out what the first picture came from!

Hmmm, a giraffe.  I suspect that we'll be seeing a number of zoo related posts over the next while.

I also read somewhere that they  are the only mammal without a voicebox.. FYI

Posted by Darren Revell (Keller Williams Realty - East Foothill) almost 2 years ago

Ok, I had it down to an animal, not vegetable nor mineral, but other than that, you got me!

Hi Al and Peggy.  Boy, I was way off, I thought it was a nest!

Al and Peggy:  Giraffes are such wonderful creatures.  Just another example of Mother Nature working Her magic.  I bet it is really, really painful when a giraffe gets a sore throat ?  Whaddya think ?

I missed this first post, I have been sick for a few days, but that was great! And I am with Karen Ann, bet it is really painful when they have a sore throat, LOL.

And by the way, I looked back at my entry for your contest. I was brave and didn't wait like many said they would, and am proud of my number, LOL. I am sure I won't win, but that wasn't too far off IMHO!

Well a giraffe would not have been my guess. They are incredible creatures. They fight each other with their necks and can actually hit with the force of 2 tons.

My guess would have been Peg took a shot of your hairline way back when it was dark and there

Ok now I must admit I thought it was rippling water from the first photo, then I got my specks and thought it must be an animal tail. Never would have I thought it was a giraffe Al & Peggy. Love the way you kept me suspense until the end...ha, ha end!

Could not figure it out on the first photo.   I was thinking of a goat/llama, not a giraffe.    Thanks for the post

Posted by Robert Foster (United Country-Michigan Outdoor Properties - Northern Office) almost 2 years ago

I'd have said black hair ! (for "locks for love"!) never would have guessed giraffe tail hair though!

Posted by Marilyn Harrell (Century21 Smith-Miller, Inc.) almost 2 years ago

I would have said the back of Al's head when y'all got married those many years ago.

Posted by Not a real person almost 2 years ago

I would have thought it was a toupee.  LOL

Al & Peggy - Wow, that was a hard one, I would not have guessed that in a million years.

It really could have been anything from that shot Marchel!

Shhh Marc, we may drag it out til next winter LOL!

Really Darren? It made some kind of noise while we were standing there. Oh wait a minute, they don't have a voice box? Are you telling us that noise was.............

Well you were close than Tony and Darcy!

Ya but a nest was original Gary!

Oh Karen that cracked us up!! Yes, it would be an awful sore throat! Guess that's why they eat for 16 - 20 hours, it takes that long to swallow!

Andrea hurry up and get better!! You know we have not been studying the points guess deliberately so we wouldn't be influenced in what we are doing. But midnight tonight is finally coming!!!

Great facts there Ed, you made us go and check back on their fighting habits. Did you know they fight for half an hour? Throwing 2 tons around for 30 minutes, can you imagine doing that?

Rippling water...good thinking Cynthia.  There were so many creative guesses!

You were right on target there Pam!

At least you thought 'animal' though Robert

Guess in the middle of winter, not many are thinking of giraffes Marilyn, but you were right about the hair part!

LOL Russel, never had black hair though!

Toupee, good one Marcia....so maybe Russel was right about the colour of Al's hair!!

Ya, it was a tough clue for sure Michelle

Hi Al and Peggy -- If I ate for 16-20 hours a day, I would need a whole lot more sleep than 5-30 minute, ouch!  Nature is amazing...

Posted by Chris Olsen Broker Owner Cleveland Ohio Real Estate (Olsen Ziegler Realty) almost 2 years ago

Well that was quite the tail you told lol.  I don't think I would have guessed that.

Posted by Jenny Kotulak (Broker RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp., Oakville, Ontario) almost 2 years ago

Isn't it Chris? Luckily they are only grazing or those skinny legs would have trouble holding them up!

Oh that is funny Jenny, you are so quick!
