It's Good News In Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

It was hurrays and high five's here in Oshawa, Ontario Canada yesterday, as GM recalled approximately 600 workers back to work and about a 100 more to the Ingersoll plant

It's been a long haul for the over 2600 employees that were shed last year when the truck plant closed.  It may seem like a drop in the bucket, but at least its a step in the right direction.

The jobs are being created to handle the new demand for the popular 'crossover' vehicles. There is hope of a third shift being required for the Fall.

Between this news and the strong Spring real estate market
, things are looking pretty good so far in 2010!

Al and Peggy - That's great news for one of the OEMs.  It will also create a ripple effect for the parts suppliers who will be supplying the program both locally, provincially, nationally and in other countries.

Al and Peggy, it's about time we heard some positive news from the Motor city. That's really good for Oshawa. Lets hope the jobs are there to stay.

We may have some news for Brampton, if the resurgence of the auto industry continues. However, I don't suspect that the industry will ever return to its former numbers.

Al & Peggy, Thanks for spreading GOOD NEWS! Perhaps this is a start of better things to come for the unemployed!

Hi Al & Peggy, that's great news for all of those affected families. Maybe the other car company's gas pedal problems is helping GM. What a great post for a Saturday.

Al & Peggy,

Thanks for sharing the good news of Oshawa.  Erie is similar in that the unemployment of its people affects the real estate market. If people have jobs they will buy.  If they are worried about their job they won't.

We're happy for them too Pam and good luck to your Spring market!

Yes Marc! We forgot about the ripple effect and that is surely to happen!

No problem Chris, we were glad when we heard it and had to share!

Yes we hope so too Andrea.  They are thinking this new 'Crossover' vehicle will be the lifesaver.

Oh we think it was much more than a drop to the lucky 600 of them Gerry, we just hope it won't be too much longer for the rest of them to get the call back!

They are putting alot of faith in the new 'Crossover' vehicle Malcolm, let's hope it is the shot in the arm the industry needs.

We agree Brian, we think they learned their lesson from the stomach turning medicine.

We think it is Wanda! 2010 is going to be a great year for alot of people.

We know Dagny, the restaurants are buzzing, the streets are full, it has to be a good sign!

LOL! Ed, wonder who that is!  Let's hope though that it is just good news and not at the sacrifice of another.  We need them all back on all cylinders.

Absolutely Mary.  Just like good news gives confidence and is the best stimulant!

Al & Peggy, that is good news I see signs of the same thing going on here maybe not as significant, but people do seem to be getting back to work.  Especially housing construction in our area...lots of new developments going up.

Wow. So even humans are being recalled now. Seems nothing is built right anymore. I suspect Mother and Father Nature will keep on trying. LOL

I think we're the generation that is built right!

Gotta go, but I'll be back tomorrow.

We like to hear housing construction Nick, it is the hub of the economy wheel in our minds.

LOL! Russel, great point, yep humans recalled! Cute baby ducks!
