Ready? Let's Go Fish!
Fishing season is alive and well in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Last weekend with the warmer temperatures and sunny days, there was a good sprinkling of fishermen out on Lake Simcoe but the Granddaddy of all fishing kicks off next weekend on beautiful Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, in Orillia with Canada's largest registered Perch Festival. This major fishing derby that attracts fishermen from near and wide, begins April 17, 2010 and runs through until May 20th. The object is to catch one or more of the 60 tagged perch, earning the prize of $500.00 each.

To enter the 29th Perch Festival you must submit your information and $15.00 (children under 16 $5.00) entry fee to Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, 150 Front St. South, Orillia, Ontario, L3V 4S7. Your registration form will then be on file at the Perch Festival Headquarters at Tudhope Park.
Don't miss this out. This is always a well attended event that is fun for both for the participants and the spectators alike.
Just imagine a day of fun and a chance to win at least $500.00 for $15.00!

Sure wish I could fish some perch up there by you guys, that would be a blast! :-)
That picture doesn't look like any perch I ever saw. I fished for anything and everything in Minnesota for years and the opening day was always the weekend closest to May 15th. That left a lot of nonfishing mothers alone for mother's day, something my mother always enjoyed. I've only gone fishing twice since moving to Seattle. Tis a pity.
RainCamp, Fishing, Toronto... seems they all fit.
Hey Glenn, it must be that $500 tag throwing you off.
This sounds like a fun, well attended event. And the return on investment, even if you don't win the $500.00, is well worth it!
Unfortunately I will have to pass on this one, although it does sound fun, I will be spending time fishing this year as I really want to finally learn how to fly fish, I hear it is addicting, and I am wondering how it will fit in with my other addiction, AR....hope you are both well
The lake will be jammed for the winnings Craig. Just heard the forcast is for rain next Satuday so we are sure hoping it changes!
Fly fishine eh Gerry?? Interesting, that means up to the hips in water right? Good luck! Ya, make it your second mistress to AR, we like having you around here.
Al & Peggy - This event sounds like a lot of fun, I haven't been fishing since I was a kid, but I loved it. $15 to possibly win $500 is great deal.
I know where I'd be if I was there on April 17th! That looks like a blast Al & Peggy!
How sweet is this! I would love to put my work aside and get in some quality fishing time. Nothing better. Unfortunately we have a deadline on the tax incentives here in the US. The lure of the fish will not be able to hook me until my work is done. Keep us tuned to the results. I live vicariously right now.
Hey Kids, I can walk around a pasture for a few hours with a bunch of sticks hitting a little ball and be entertained. Yet the thought of standing or sitting in a boat or along a bank with a string in the water doesn't excite me, even for $500
I am a pathetic fisher Al&Peggy... for me it starts with having to put something on the hook and ends with having to take a fish off the hook.
However, everyone in my family loves fishing, so you just might find us up there ;-)
