Kickoff For The World Cup 2010 In Just Over A Week Away

In just 11 days from today World Cup 2010 begins.  This event marks the first time ever that Africa was awarded to be the Host.

Over 160 national teams take part in the regional qualifications to qualify as one of the 32 teams that will take part in the finals, in South Africa in June 2010.

Have a listen to the official World Cup 2010 song...

Before you leave, South Africa's team Bafana Bafana has their own song.  It's catchy and has a great message...

Hey guys, there is always hope that our team USA will show itself with a good showing but is it's like that last World Cup, we'll again show that we don't belong there. It will probably be another of the world's power houses that get to the win the cup. Either way, it is truly the world's largest sporting event and looked on with more fervor than the Olympics.

Hey Dagny can't help the videos....LOL, we now have South Africa's 'Bafana Bafana' tune in our heads!

Ok Laura! Our last post, had votes for Portugese, U.S.A. and now we have Italy and Colombia, bring on the World Cup!

Well Ed at least USA shows up with a team, unfortunately we Canadians don't have one :(.......so you know we will be supporting our big brother!

Bafana, Bafana, bring it home to mama? Hmmmm. Soccer is a sport that I've never really been a fan of, but there sure is a lot of soccer in our public schools right now, something we didn't have when I was in school.

Well hello Dean from Milton Ontario! You are absolutely correct. Lets hope not, those ind of actions ruin these events.

We didn't either Jim. In fact currently Canada doesn't even have a team, but we are sure that will be changing. Here in Brampton, we just got a beautiful new soccer centre.

Al and Peggy,

I did not realized that the start of the World Cup is days away.   Thank you for the reminder.  Something other than hockey that is going to get me glued to my seat to watch!  :)

I loved the video of Bafana Bafana.  Even the elephant and the giraffe are big fans of soccer and playing with the soccer ball.  :)
