When A Child Asks You "Why", How Do You Answer?

Any of us with children have had this question presented to us.  You would answer the question only to get another "why" and another and another. 

We bumped into the video below that thousands of people had already found, but thought we would pass it along just in case you missed it. 

The singer and writer of the song was 13 years old when it was produced. 

With the world watching World Cup 2010 and the G20 going on, it seemed a good time to share this video.

That's always a fun game with kids, the way their minds think! Good one to ask them Michael is 'why do houses have roofs?' Strange answers come outta that one, like to keep the furniture from flying out LOL!

Al & Peggy - Wow, Declan is an amazing singer and yes children do ask "why" a lot. I found the age of 4-5 to be the "why" stage.

I think everyone should ask "why" more...and sometimes we should stop being rigid and try a little of the "why not?!"

Al and Peggy, Boy can Declan sing.  The last one was in 2007.. and idea of what he is doing today?  My sons both asked the "Why", over and over when they were younger, but I never (at least I don't recall) answering back "why".  They were are very curious boys, and I don't want that to be stifled.

I never had any children to ask me why all the time, but my mother tells me that I was one of them.

The answer to most "Why?" questions include some form of the following:

  • Narcisism
  • Money
  • Religion
  • Power
If these four don't work than you are probably dealing with an irrational person to begin with and you can't rationalize with an irrational person!
