We Are Hoping To See Bright Lights Tonight in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada Area
With a bit of luck tonight the GTA area (the greater Toronto area) should be able to experience the beautiful Northern lights (a.k.a aurora borealis) that are usually observed and awed over in the Arctic region.
This is very exciting for people like us who've never seen them before. We have to be as far north as we can because light pollution, to view such phenomena. Let's hope for clear skies tonight and maybe a black out....only joking on the black out part!

With eyes northbound...

Sounds exciting, and romantic for you two! Hope you see them and the fireworks after. lol
Good luck...I hope you have a bright and colorful light show.
Al & Peggy, I've never experienced full blown northern lights...I remember being just outside of Chicago in the mid to late '70's and again around 2005 seeing flashes of light across the sky...it turns out that it was a diluted form of the northern lights...cool, but not like you guys can see farther north.
Al and Peggy .......... WOW ......... that is some site. I hope you get to experience the full northern lights effect.
Al & Peggy - I hope you get to see the Northern Lights this evening and I hate to say it, but the sky is the most beautiful during a blackout. Once in a while after a hurricane we'll lose power, the sky will be completely clear and it's one of the most amazing things I've seen. The stars are so close it feels like you can reach out and touch them.
Hopefully the sky will be clear enough and you'll be able to experience the Northern Lights tonight in Toronto...............keep us posted Al and Peggy.
I have seen the aurora several times. I am always in awe when I see them. The last time I saw them was when I was in the upper of MI several years back. Needless to say they took my breath away. Good luck...
I was fortunate enough to see them on a trip to Canada once - the magnificence of them makes one almost speechless. Good luck.
That would be such a great thing to see. I hope the skies are accommodating for you guys to see the most incredible light show that nature puts on.
Your so funny Ellen! After all the hype, looks like no such luck tonight
We had been counting on it John, but even though we drove up to a quiet north spot, no colours
That would have been cool too Nick. Looks like we are going to have to make a trek to Alaska!
So disappointed George! The northern lights were a no show!!!
That must be amazing Michelle! See, there is a silver lining after a storm
Wish we could have reported and given you some colourful shots, but nada, Roger.....maybe next time.
Ah now see Michael, that is what we were hoping for!!
Juli, guess we will have to wait until next time or....book a trip to Alaska!
We were waiting for this chance of a lifetime, but nope not to be this time Craig
That sounds like a great thing to experience. It may take a Alaskan cruise to get your view.
Bummer!
Hi Al and Peggy - I was driving around at 10:30 this evening and did not see anything except some clouds and the usual Toronto area light pollution. The radio didn't say where or when to look. Apparently, the northern lights will also be out tomorrow night. Perhaps you can try again later tonight or tomorrow night and save yourselves the trip to the Arctic Circle. :)
Sorry for your disappointment! I was hoping for some pictures... of the lights that is!
Al and Peggy - I'm sorry that you didn't get to see them but also because we didn't get to see them vicariously through you!
That would be amazing to see them in the TO area. I grew up in Northern MN and was always in awe. Hope you are able to see them!
I heard it was suppose to be seen really far south tomorrow. I don't think it will make it to me but maybe Kentucky
shelton
Al & Peggy, I came back to see if the northern lights put on a show for you...oh well...looks like Alaska is going to be on my bucket list.
