We Just Passed The Halfway Mark In Brampton, Ontario, Canada!

August 6th marked the halfway mark of Summer.
Why so glum? Is the glass half full or half empty remember? We still have a lot of fun filled days of summer left to enjoy, with plenty of sunshine in the forecast.
Maybe now is a good time to refresh some summer safety tips and stay safe.

Man with BBQThe BBQ - Test it for leaks, clean the burner ports & tubes, check the hose that attaches to your tank for cracks or damage and see if it needs replaced. Remember to always store propane cylinders outdoors, stay by your grill when it is lit and keep it clean to prevent grease flare ups.

Off on a bus road.

Travelling in an RV This Summer? - Remember never to block the combustion exhaust vent on the external wall, never construct an enclosed space around the vent and make sure you have a CO & propane leak alarm

Boy by the campfireHeading to a Campsite? - Arrive in the daylight hours and check for glass or sharp objects, watch for poison ivy, bees and any overhead branches that may fall. Check that open fires are permitted if you are planning on lighting one and make sure all your heaters & propane stoves are connected properly. Never use a propane heater inside your tent or any enclosed space.  Keeping your campsite neat and tidy helps avoid accidents.

Fun at the cottageRelaxing At the Cottage?
- Periodically do a visual check of the power lines leading into your cottage and repair if necessary. Inspect indoor & outdoor wiring for damage from mice & other rodents, make sure smoke & carbon monoxide alarms have working batteries and dispose of old cleaning solvents & fuels.

Remember safety is up to you and enjoy the rest of the summer!

Al and Peggy - Happy Midpoint of Summer 2010.  Summer officially ends when The Ex closes on Labour Day.  That's when it starts to get colder.

Oooh, every summer I have a list of things that I'm going to do. Every summer I fail to get half of them done. I'm going to make the best of this second half of summer 2010.

With Summer only 1/2 over, it's never too late (or early) to be reminded of these important safety tips.

Al and Peggy I can't believe that Summer is half way over, it seems like it just started. Before you know it we will be shoveling snow all over again.

Jennifer, hope the 2nd half goes slower than the first. It has just flown by!

Really Michael? 2nd half of planting?  What late bumper crops are you doing??

Shh Marc, don't say things like that even though we know you are right, but must you use that four letter word????

Oh we hear you Malcolm, sounds like the same situation over here.

It has gone fast hasn't it Debbie? The one thing we learned reading up on the safety habits was not to store the propane tanks in enclosed area, we'll be moving ours out of the garage!

You have that right Josh and we stopped counting a long, long time ago!!

August makes you think Fall is around the corner, but really we still have a full half of summer to go! Yeah! Heat up the BBQ, where's the dogs and cobs, let's get the festivities going!

Hey! George! Stop with the four letter words already and that yicky word shovel!!!

August 6 is your summer halfway mark? You've got a long summer. What calendar are you using? We use the Tourist Calendar here, so summer Starts the Friday before Memorial Day and ends the Tuesday after Labor Day.

School teachers will do that Chris, we have to just let them feel their pain LOL

Oh we don't use a tourist calendar up here LOL! But summer officially goes to the 21st day of September, so we have lots of summer to go yet. Want to move up here Russel?
