Al and Peggy's Corner: If You Found A Camera, What Would You Do?

If You Found A Camera, What Would You Do?

If You Found A Camera, What Would You Do?

Last week we spent a day at Brampton, Ontario's beautiful new hospital,
more on that later, our daughter was in for day surgery, more on that later too. Luckily for us, we don't spend many days like this and thought, while we were killing off time waiting, we would take pictures and do a post on Brampton, Ontario's gorgeous new hotel-like hospital.

Unfortunately, somewhere between admitting, waiting rooms, cafeteria, lobby and all the other departments that we checked out, we misplaced our treasured Panasonic digital camera.
You see, we had just purchased a new video camera and brought it along as well. We can only think that by not being used to handling two cameras at once and carrying around the bag of necessities (and more!) that day, that somehow we put it down and trotted off.

digital cameraWe scoured everywhere we could remember being, looking for it, but to no avail. Finally we filed a report with the security department. The answer from the security officer is that we shouldn't expect to see it any time soon, we don't want to believe that.   It was iI is our hope that some honest person retrieved it and will turn it in to the security department. So tell us;

Al & Peggy - I've found wallets, cameras, jewelry and have always turned it in.  I know if I lost something I would hope the person who found it would do the same.  Hopefully someone turns it in.

Al & Peggy, I'd turn it in. Pictures are PRICELESS and cannot be replaced, the camera can. So sorry this happened!

Funny Michelle, security said they get a lot of jewelry, wallets & phones, but he said never a camera....to useful he said!

Exactly how we feel Wanda and there were lots on the camera card we had not downloaded :(  It's been a week so think we are S.O.L. but still hopeful. We even walked the parking lot!  Watch, we'll buy a new one and it will turn up!

Al and Peggy, interesting that the guidlines for honesty depends on the item.

Al & Peggy - Sorry about the loss of your camera.  I'd hope that someone would turn it in, but if they haven't my now, I guess they like it.

There's an interesting website called "I Found Your Camera" where folks upload pictures in hopes of reuniting owner and camera.  If I found one, I'd try that site as well as turning it in.

Hi Al & Peggy, I would turn it in, I have turned in many things. Funny thing, I left my wallet recently at the grocery store in the cart. They called me as I was on my way back down there. The woman told me that 9 times out of 10 the wallets come back in the store, unharmed, everything in there. I was shocked!

I have and would make a real effort to locate the owners.  If that is impossible I would look for a lost and found or some sort of administration to leave it with, or I have, on occassion, left a note where I found the object and a contact number.  That way the owner will have to describe in some detail the object to prove ownership to me.

The last choice would be the police.

I too would make every effort to find the original owner. Sorry you lost yours...

Al and Peggy - Perhaps you need to alert the news media.  After all, don't forget that another family recently had their camera taken from another local area hospital and there was video.

Al & Peggy, A lost camera would really appeal to the puzzle solver.  Assuming a digital camera, look at the pics and see if you could back in to who owned it.  It someplace with a lost and found, turn it in.

Maybe a Craigslist ad?

Isn't it Ty? It sounded like it was if the item found was of use to the one that found it, they keep it. Just can't believe that is the way it is out there.

That's what we were thinking John. Guess the universe knew someone who needed it more than we did.

Thanks for the info Emmerary. We will check this out and see what happens.

We remember posting about that Andrea and we were as surprised as you that all your money was still there.  See there are really nice people out there.

Active Rain has made us feel there are a lot of honest people in the world Chris, guess our little camera just didn't find one.  It was our mistake leaving it behind somewhere, we are still hopeful. Maybe when the battery wears out LOL!

Let that be a lesson to you Michael, don't let us borrow your things! We couldn't believe we left it, it was just one of those busy days and we got careless.

Really Marc??  With no t.v. networks active in our household and only XM radio, we didn't hear this

Oh that is a good idea Liz and Bill. But in this case we are the ones that lost the camera, so hopefully someone will do what you suggested.

I once found a ring and ask all the people on my block if they lost a ring? No one did...

Oh that is such a shame.  Nothing yet?  I actually have dreams sometimes that I've forgotten my purse somewhere.  It's such a panicky feeling when we do lose something.
