Hi Al and Peggy - There are so many options for children in the summer in the Greater Toronto Area.  A couple of months ago, I did a series on numerous summer camps operated by the Town of Markham.

Al and Peggy,

Never had the opportunity to attend a summer camp when I was growing up. Me and my friends just made our own.

Looks like a great opportunity for Brampton kids this summer.

Summer camps are a great way to keep kids engaged, make new friends, learn new skills, and have a fun and memorable time away from school.

Al and Peggy,

It's interesting that some of the children who don't do well in school will excel at summer camp.

I never attended a summer camp as a kid, and the consequences of that have been enormous in my life. To this day I can't build a decent camp fire, nor can I identify poison ivy :-(

Al and Peggy, we are sending Alec to camp for three weeks in July.  He will get to spend time with some friends he doesn't see as often now and he will do many interesting activities.

Al & Peggy, when my kids were younger we always spent summers in Italy...its now that they are older and not fully driving that they say they are bored and want me taking them everywhere....do they take 16 and 17 year olds in camp! LOL

Summer camps in the cities is a popular venue and one that parents appreciate!

Same here Rich, and what fun we had...however our kids were always in one of some kind.

Yes Anita and safe and off the roadways. With both parents mostly working these days you are right, keeps the kids engaged.

Now that is an interesting point Brian, is it the leadership or the programs we wonder....

LOL! Then Malcolm you should take along a kid when you go for those walks of yours!!

It is another great learning curve Chris and hopefully one that will make memories for him.

Yes Ellen as a matter of fact they do! They are the leaders!! LOL!

Al & Peggy, summer camp really is a great opportunity for kids to get away, learn and have fun all at the same time.  I never had the chance when I was younger to go to summer camp...always felt I missed out.  It's probably too late for me now...and for those my age it's probably called Club Med or something similar ;))

Al and Peggy my kids grew up attending camps, but the ones that they enjoyed most were the Church Camps.

LOL! Now that still would be a lot of fun Nick, so you haven't missed anything yet! Go on, get out there!

Church camps are good too George...our kids went to them as well, so much to learn.

Wow, back from camp already Joni! Your season must start so much earlier than ours. Glad to hear they had a blast!

They do have creative ideas Wanda. Sometimes we think, why didn't we think of that. It is a great place for kids if Moms and Dads have to work.
