Paying It Forward Is As Easy As Snapping A Tab!
What tab you ask? The tabs on pop cans or any cans actually with those little tabs.
Why do you want to take off those tabs? To save them up and help make a wheelchair!
We know you are asking how can a simple thing like a pop can tab help create a wheelchair? Well apparently the tabs on the cans are worth more than the cans because they are cleaner, so places like Senior Citizen Centres, Variety Village and our renown Hospital for Sick Children collects these tabs to take them to a recycling depot where they are melted down and used again.
The recycling depot pays for the aluminum tabs by the pound. The money is then used to buy a wheelchair!
We save ours conveniently in a zip lock bag until it is full
and then drop it off at a local Senior Citizen Centre to do our part to help buy a wheelchair for someone in need.
So just remember, before recycling the can, snap off the tab and save it. Someone will thank you for it!

I've seen others doing that - Simple thing to do - but I'm afriad it would take me 20 years to fill a bag based on our usage - I'll have to find another way
Al & Peggy, Great thought for recycling aluminum while helping someone in need. Happy Anniversary you two! And many more!
I have heard of this before, but never knew why just the tabs... thanks for the explanation, and showing us how easy it is to Pay it Forward.
What a unique way to pay it forward. I hope that enough tabs can be pulled to make this thing a success.
Such a worthy cause and simple way of helping...........great suggestion Al and Peggy, thanks.
Hi Al and Peggy - I think back in the old days, we could also drop off the tabs at Dominion but I don't know if that is possible any more.
Hi Everyone! Yes it is just that easy to help out....my Mom has been collecting and taking the tabs to the Senior Centre for years.....the other day we were in a small restaurant and they had a cup on the counter to collect the tabs instead of tips and thought that was really great.
Marcia every small bit helps...we don't drink much pop but we do it anyway and any pull tab off anything works!
It is easy Wanda and thanks a lot.
Chris I've always collected those tabs and given them to Mom, thought it had someone to do with wheelchairs but had to confirm with her....I thought they melted the tabs and made the wheelchairs but that wasn't right.
Tom, This guy Robert is personally making it a success, check this out http://www.poptabsforwheelchairs.ca/
It is Roger and so simple to do!
Don't remember Dominion doing that Marc but that would be really convenient and probably helped out alot. Convenience gets things done!
Al and Peggy, this is a great way to do something useful that doesn't take much effort at all. Thanks for explaining this simple method of paying it forward.
Al & Peggy - Very cool and easy way to pay it forward.
