Al and Peggy's Corner: So What's Your Profile Look Like - Friday Focus

So What's Your Profile Look Like - Friday Focus

Go to any course these days on social media,
heck, go to any course these days and the speaker will tell you how important it is to be part of Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Active Rain and many more. They will tell you how important it is to 'be out there' , be visible where people can find you.

When you join these platforms,
one of the things they ask you to do is to talk about yourself, let people know who you are. What you're made of.

What made us think about this was our experience testing Hang Out on Google+
The gentleman from France who joined in our conversation said he did so, because he first read our profile and saw we were interested in boating the same as he was.  It made us stop and think just how important our profile on all these medias are.

So who exactly are you?
What does your profile look like on all these medias? The same on each one or different? Have you filled in your profile fully and in detail so people will want to deal with you?

We're going to check all ours over, how about you?
Those profiles may earn us some business if done right.

Good point. I was talking to a client and she was talking about pinterest. She loves it! But she had no idea that she should create a profile on pinterest. Important Post!

Al, thank Peggy there for improving what your profile looks like.

Take your next picture with sunlight on your entire face, not just the side.

Thanks Leslie, we just thought while all of us are involved in social media, we have to remember people or future clients are judging us from our activities. Our profiles are a chance to introduce ourselves. Love Pinterest.

Thanks for the suggestions Erv. We will follow them.

Al & Peggy, it is difficult keeping up with all these when business is off the charts, but have updated a few of these.   Great info!

Al/Peggy...some of mine are similar but a few are different.  Those that provide do-follow links get a full dose of SEO (thanks to my hubby).

Al & Peggy -  Good point and one taken to heart.  I have updated one or two of mine the others need attention.  Thanks for the little shove in the right direction.  Now to find that extra few hours in the day to get it all done!

Hi Al & Peggy...Like Joan Says it's not easly staying on Top of all these Social Media sites. I think picking a few and work them, rather than putting your profile on hundreds of online sites, I did that, and most of my leads come from my web sites and AR, a few from LinkedIn, nothing so far from Facebook, and I have a business, Personal and 365 Things to do Facebook page...go figure

Its good to have the problems of juggling right Joan? But your profile says so much about you, even that you care about your image if it is filled in right.

You are a lucky lady Anita to have someone like hubby to keep you juiced!

We know John, but your profile is an ad about you isn't it?

I try to make mine just alittle bit different from site to site.  It is exhausting keeping up with everything that is for sure!

Ya know Fred we noticed that with Facebook, doesn't seem to pull as much here in Canada.

Guess you really can't be everything to everybody Debbie, it is a lot of work. To us, profiles are like your resume.

Al and Peggy, I recommended this for one of the reasons you pointed out.  Yes, we do need to be "out there" on ever internet site available.  But, the bottom line is people will choose us because of who we ARE, what we DO, what we believe in.  Your French client who contacted you becauce of your like for boating is a great example.  We can cite numbers and stats ad nauseum.  We can tell people we've been in business for x amount of year or we sold y amount of properties.  At the end of the day, it's still about people meeting people.  Period.  Great job!!!

Thanks Juli.  We just thought about how important your profile is and ones that aren't fully filled in with 'people' points speak volumes.  We have to make sure ours are all done nicely.

I'm not a member of Pinterest or Twitter, and even ActiveRain has had me down in the dumps because of how the staff and several top members treated Russel and Eric in mid-January. It's been difficult for me since those two are the reason I am where I am in my life right now. Russel taught me to let my personality shine through, which is why I have musical notes on my blog posts. That has connected me with two Clients, one of whom listed a $1.2 million property with me.
